Event Recap | UX Best Practices for Expressing Provenance

There are hundreds of millions of files out there with Content Credentials attached. But how can the average person see that information, use it to understand where something came from, and decide whether it’s trustworthy? The display of that metadata, in a manner that is effective, transparent, and accessible, is critical to their utility, recognition, and—the ultimate goal for us at the CAI—ubiquitous adoption.

Recently, we hosted our first-ever UX Working Session for designers and implementers. We brought together a diverse mix of perspectives across media, technology, and more, with the intention of sharing knowledge on best practices for how consumers interact with and experience Content Credentials online, sparking inspiration, and empowering change-makers at their organizations.

Pia Blumenthal, our Design Manager at the CAI and co-chair of the C2PA User Experience Task Force, presented on UX guidance for implementers compliant with the C2PA specification

Erin Oberhauser, co-founder of Pixelstream, presented on their end-to-end platform for implementing Content Credentials from capture, to edit, publish, display, and verify.

Patrick Krupa, CPO of SmartFrame Technologies, and Francesco Calabretta, SmartFrame’s Product Owner, presented on how they incorporated Content Credentials into their image-streaming network to safely distribute, display, and monetize images.
